In light of the self- reflection in creating the contents of this portfolio, the following skills and knowledge are being presented.
Communication skills are enhanced. The mastery of discourse writing competence, the higher skills founded on its predecessor- the mastery of linguistic and socio-linguistic competence. Communicative approach anchored on logical sequence notions. Writing text is basically learned through process and output orientations, from text to process to textual output. The main actors of the learning- writing tasks are the interactive facilitator- the teacher and the active learner- the students.
Concept acquisition is also utilized wherein students are being directed to analyze, summarize and get the gist of an idea in a particular lesson. This pertains to the information gathered from different sources but the main focus will be on analyzing the different points of view based on factual information. The writer may analyze the data gathered in order to come up with a convincing conclusion. Usually students may come up with a report in a more simple way. The report would include a summary of the situation, date, an identification of the main issue or concern, a breakdown of the elements of the main issue and then recommendations on how to address the issue based on the topic.
